My New Home

By Kristi Steidley

My husband and I just recently remodeled our bathroom. This is something we have been wanting to do since we moved into our home over six years ago. We thought it would be too expensive, so we kept putting it off. We decided this is the year to get it done. I spent a lot of time visualizing what I wanted it to look like. I smiled as I could feel the coolness of the gray tile under my feet. I enjoyed the smell of shampoo as I was washing my hair in our new shower. I admired how beautiful the light blue walls looked. I felt the calmness of what the new pictures hanging on my wall represented. I appreciated the brightness of the new lights.

There were times I would start to feel overwhelmed about the money. I’m sure there were times I unknowingly pushed it away from me. But overall, I remained focused on the gratitude I felt for my new bathroom.

It was fun to see how God was helping us fulfill this wish of a new bathroom. We had purchased a new washer and dryer a few months previous. The washing machine was pretty noisy – a lot noisier than the one we had before. So, I called Samsung to have someone come take a look at it. They scheduled the appointment, but it turns out we live out of boundaries for a service repairman. The Samsung representative told me the next option would be to return it to Lowes and exchange it for another one. I said that would be great. Well, the store was out of stock on that washing machine, so the representative then told me Samsung would refund the cost of the machine for in store credit.

The vanity and shower surround I wanted was at Lowes. I was happy to take the in-store credit! We didn’t even have to return our old washing machine. It works fine, it’s just loud. I was super impressed with how easy it was. Samsung customer service was amazing. They were the ones in constant contact with me updating me on the status. We were glad to use the store credit for out bathroom remodel.

My husband felt bad about using the credit. He said it was criminal of us. I knew better. I told him if we had been dishonest and trying to cheat the system, that would be criminal. I reassured him it was a gift from God. I knew He was showing us a way we never would’ve thought possible to remodel our bathroom on a budget.
