“I am Monica and I help others believe in themselves and God by loving them and sharing my life through writing and music. I choose to live in the NOW, believe in myself, and help others to feel love.”
Meet Monica Zollinger, Mindset Mastery Honors Graduate.
Monica had a lot to overcome, and her story is a wonderful example of what happens when we apply the principles of Rare Faith to the vision we create and hold of ourselves. She has learned to stop and recognize when fear and self-doubt infiltrate her thoughts, and to cling to the belief in herself she chooses to hold instead.
It sounds simple, but it is one of the hardest things we can do.
In the Mindset Mastery program, students get to practice the laws and principles that activate unseen help. That unseen help orchestrates resources, connections, and/or impressions that nudge them toward all they need to accomplish their goal.
In Phase 1, they practice what they’ve learned on an inconsequential goal – something NOT connected to anything they’re intensely concerned about. This helps them experience success without undue stress, to build the mental muscle memory they need to apply what they learn, so they can later succeed with a goal of greater significance.
Following is Monica’s experience with that first mental muscle-building experiment in her own words:
My goal was to find a stuffed pink and purple polka dotted hippopotamus. After writing my goal, I went to a couple of stores looking for my Hippo. Then I began to doubt if this was inconsequential enough [because it is something meaningful from my past] so I began to think . . . maybe I should change my goal to seeing white calla lilies.
There used to be a bouquet of beautiful, artificial, white calla lilies at the Redlands temple that I loved to see when I went. I haven’t seen them for a few years. I thought I would go to the temple today and see if they were back yet. They were not in the entranceway. No one I asked knew what happened to them.
I asked God to help me be open to what He wanted me to learn/see today. About halfway through the session, I saw a picture of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden…[and] in the left bottom corner, I noticed a big bunch of white calla lilies. I’d never seen them before…
I know I can get caught up with so many thoughts in my mind, that sometimes I miss the obvious because I’m not focused, but I didn’t miss those calla lilies today.
When we prayerfully move forward with a clear vision and joyful anticipation, God steers us in the right direction. Knowing you can’t steer a parked car, we set our intention and then just roll.
Monica was determined to build more evidence that these laws work, so she decided to practice again:
I also had a goal to get a $47 charge dismissed from a company, because it was their fault that I was re-billed in January when my insurance deductible started over. When I made the order in December, it took them three tries and a month to send me the right part for my CPAP machine. I hadn’t called them for several months because they always say there is nothing they can do.
Monica’s data input (experience) said that there wasn’t anyone who cared enough to help her. The default and limiting deductive reasoning was in play.
I tried to overcome my belief that everyone at that company is incompetent and tried calling again today. I talked to several different people who didn’t want to take any responsibility…
But because of her desire to practice the principles of Rare Faith, Monica decided to challenge that data and follow the steps in the course to change her frequency or “vibration” to align with the outcome she wanted.
…then I decided I would call and explain the situation one more time by asking them questions. If no one would help me, I would just take care of the bill so I could move on with my life and not have bad feelings surface every time I got another statement or telephone call from them. Just let it go.
I talked with someone who was willing to look into it and [she] ended up writing off the bill, except for $2.56 that apparently was left over from a previous order… So I paid the $2.56 and… it was all taken care of.
The solution to any problem is only an idea away. Once she stepped back and aligned with the principles, she had a new thought: to approach the representative with questions instead of explanations. Notice the idea didn’t come until she paused long enough to get her mindset right.
Not getting upset… works. I am learning to think differently through this program, even if it takes me a while. I’m grateful for the principles I now have in my toolbox to help me create more joy and abundance in my life.
Well done Monica!
In Lesson 18 we work on looking beyond appearances to see what truth lies on the other side of the data. With Monica’s permission I’m sharing an excerpt from one of her journal entries:
Two of the fears I named in Lesson 18 were not seeing my goals clearly enough and doubting myself in being able to accomplish them…
…so I just took the next step. [I decided that] If I learn I’m on the wrong path, I’ll recalculate my route and go a different way. I chose to face the fears, make a choice, and believe I’d figure it out…
Through journaling about my fears and turning them into positives, I was able to think truth. It’s time for me to start LIVING!
Monica noticed her thoughts and challenged them. Once she noticed her thoughts, she was able to use the principles to hear the real truth of who she is.
With all of this forward momentum she was ready to set her consequential goal – something that really mattered. This time her effort blessed not only her, but her whole family. Her goal was that her family would be together again after seven years.
This goal didn’t seem possible, since I had just sent my youngest son to England for school at the end of September. We didn’t have the money to bring him back so soon. However, I talked with all of his siblings and they agreed to put the Christmas money that we would spend for their gifts toward a plane ticket to bring him home. He found a cheap flight home and we spent some quality time together, enjoying abundance and love.
And remember how she originally wanted to find the pink and purple polka-dot hippopotamus? Well, the seed she planted long ago had been growing all along. The law of gestation continued to be in effect behind the scenes while she was creating the reunion for her family. This time the gestation period was already nearly complete. She restated her still-unmet desire in present tense:
I am amazed and grateful to have Hippo back in my life! My stuffed pink and purple polka-dotted hippopotamus is a symbol of joy and abundance… He is a reminder that with God, anything can happen. He is also my muse for writing children’s stories.
Then she recorded the thoughts that followed:
After a week of feeling inadequate and a bit doubtful, I decided that was not what I wanted. I needed to change my vibration and practice what I’ve been learning. I prayed for strength to overcome these feelings and to help me know what my next step should be toward my goals.
Yesterday, after trying again to “see” my stuffed pink and purple polka dotted hippopotamus, I had the thought to go through some pictures. I went through three thumb drives and two large external hard drives and look what I found!
I guess Heavenly Father knows I’m trying to clean my house and don’t need a worn-out stuffed animal, but He was kind to help me find a picture, which strengthened my belief that, if we listen, act, and are open to receiving, WE WILL receive and can truly live in abundance! My heart is full of joy and gratitude. I look up through my tears (of joy) and see the photo I printed… above my desk.
That’s merciful.
When things don’t turn out the way you want them to, look for evidence that how it happened may be an even better outcome than what you imagined, orchestrated in wisdom by a loving Father in Heaven. Whatever your worthy desire may be, hold on to the hope that all things always work together for your good, and be at peace.
Monica was determined to not allow doubt to wither her seedlings, no matter how long they took to bear fruit. Here is another example. She explained:
I have a goal to clean and organize my home. It has been something I have struggled with my whole life. I find myself comparing how I feel in my home to how I feel when I am in someone else’s home. …I didn’t feel like I had mastered the program because my house was still not “clean and organized” the way that I expected it to be. [But] I realize that this is an ongoing goal and something that will take me longer to accomplish, even though I have made progress and am still working on this goal. I did accomplish other goals using the principles taught in this program.
What I have learned and hope to pass on to others… is that these principles work! Just because I expect things to be a certain way or think they should happen right now, doesn’t mean that things aren’t happening the way that they are supposed to happen. All we can do is keep our thoughts focused on what we want and take one step at a time to reach those goals and desires.
Monica, your voice is powerful and purposeful. I believe you will give hope to those who experience the same kind of fear and insecurity that you’ve struggled with. There is a way out of anxious and insecure thoughts, and your example of living the laws helps light the way. Congratulations on your growth!
