Facing Fear With Confidence and Peace

I am happy to introduce Mindset Mastery Graduate Gail Curtis. After successfully completing her course, Gail also decided to join us in our Sales School. It’s been a pleasure working with her, and we are so excited to see where her Rare Faith path leads her.

As always, I had some questions for her at graduation:

Q. What was your experience with the Phase 1 experiment? (The “inconsequential goal”)

A. I wanted to touch a smooth rose quartz. I was at my mother’s house, after her death, sorting through her things to find something I would like to take to remind me of her. I picked up a birthstone tree that I had given her years ago. I was dusting off the base and realized it was a smooth rose quartz base.

Q. What was your bite-sized Phase 2 “difficult, meaningful, or important” goal?

A. To maintain our finances so we can live comfortably during retirement and still have enough to go on a vacation.

Q. What happened?

A. We were able to meet with a financial advisor, invest, save and open an account to be used for daily living necessities. I received a small inheritance from my parents and my husband received a check for a real estate referral that he was not expecting.

When I received Gail’s application, I had some further questions for her. It’s not uncommon for our Mindset Mastery participants (Guided or Self-Paced) to meet the requirements for graduation, but sometimes need a little extra help putting it into words. So…

I asked her a few more questions to spark her mind to dig a little deeper:

Q. How was your phase 2 goal check-offable? The words “to maintain our finances” sounds like a longer term goal that is ongoing, rather than one you could say was “completed”. Why did it feel to you like it was beyond your natural control? What about the goal required Rare Faith, instead of just will power or discipline?

With just a little bit of encouragement, Gail successfully re-worked her answer to demonstrate that she not only achieved her goal, but really understood the concepts of how to articulate them the Rare Faith way! This was her updated response:

A. Thank you for your patience with me. I struggled with setting this goal because I am retired and my dream was to stay home, not work, care for my husband, do family history, serve in the Temple and accomplish other things that are important to me.

Being on a limited income meant I would need to be wise with what money we currently have, our savings and the money we received from the sale of our house. It has always been hard for my husband and I to discuss finances. Since I started learning about the laws that govern our thoughts I have been able to talk to him about the finances. And we are working together so much better than we ever had.

I set the goal to be able to maintain the money we have but also needed it to grow. I trusted that God wanted us to have the money to sustain us through retirement and also have enough for a vacation which we have never had. We haven’t taken a vacation yet but I know we will get to go in the near future.

In the meantime we were guided to a young man who helped us place our money in accounts that are helping our money gain profits through interest, etc. Our money is secure now and growing, giving us peace of mind so I can enjoy staying home to care for my husband and have time for the other things that are important to me.

My goal should have been written: I am grateful for the ways, means and people placed in my life that made it possible for me to have peace of mind regarding my finances by knowing they are secure and growing through interest, etc. I am enjoying being retired and staying home! I now have time to accomplish the things that are important to me.

Nailed it!

It’s important to note that Gail’s outcome was still the same, and my encouragement to dig a little deeper and get a clearer picture to re-write her goal statement was really to help her as she continues to set more goals. Fine-tuning our knowledge, understanding, and application of the laws of success are all part of the journey.

Q. What was your experience facing a fear from assignment/lesson 18? How effective were you at being able to think truth in spite of appearances?

A. I kept experiencing the fear of not setting a goal and accomplishing it. I was finally able to write a description of my fear without emotion tied to it. Then I was able to write my life purpose goal which brought everything into perspective. This helped me realize the truth in spite of the fear.

This is really a powerful exercise; to write about the fear without any emotion tied to it. The fear itself simply stems from data input. Fear is the emotion we attach to the data input, so when Gail wrote out what the fears were, intentionally unassigning the fear and negative emotion to it, she could move forward in truth. Excellent work!

Q. Did you experience a Terror Barrier Breakthrough during the course?

A. Yes, several times. One was when it was my turn to facilitate the class. I was sure I was not going to be good enough and would disappoint Christy and my friends in the class. I had to pray and push out my old programs in order to have peace and do what I needed to do.

Prayer is an excellent way to push out old programs. I especially love how Gail recognized that believing she would disappoint her Guided Mindset Mastery class facilitator and friends was an old (and false) program.

Leading the class discussion in our Guided Mindset Mastery classes often leads to terror barriers for our students, and it’s an opportunity for them to step outside of their comfort zones and experience the power that is felt as they teach concepts rather than just listening to them. Q. What would you tell someone who is facing their fear right now?

A. To focus on the laws taught in this program and use them to strengthen their faith and trust in the truths that are taught. They can push out their old programs and with thoughts and actions face their fear with confidence and peace.

Thank you Gail for this reminder for all of us. As we release and move past the old programs and false beliefs that have been holding us back, we can confidently reach our goals and face our fears with both confidence and peace. Well done!

She added:

I have seen so many miracles since I started taking this course. My husband has been having health issues for years. Through faith and using the laws we have been guided to get help for him. We are so blessed! By expressing gratitude in my prayers, answers come!

Gratitude brings blessings. Not only did Gail achieve the goals she set during the course, she and her husband witnessed unexpected miracles along the way. God always over-delivers!

Thank you Gail for sharing your experiences!
