The Law of Vibration in Action

By Shanna Hoppie

The Law of Vibration states:

Your thoughts control your personal vibration. Change your thoughts, get emotional about them, and you’ll change what is attracted to you.

Napoleon Hill stated it another way when he said, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind will achieve.”

Sure, easier said than done. Right? Well, if you say so.

What I mean is, if you say you can or if you say you can’t – you’re right! Watch what you say and how you act. Are you saying and acting in a way that is a match with what your “reality” is?

I’m a part-time substitute teacher and one day I got to be the P.E. teacher for the high school. The teacher I was there for that day left instructions to just let the kids play different games with the basketball. One boy in particular seemed to be having a terrible time making the basketball go through the hoop. He was an agile, athletic kid and it was surprising that he couldn’t make anything.

As I watched, I started to pay attention to the conversation that this boy was having with his friends. At one point I heard him say, “Man, I can’t make any of these shots! Watch…I’ll just miss it again.” He then proceed to make a shot that was a rather easy shot and he should have been able to make. He missed. What was surprising was his response. “See! I told you so!” But his demeanor was that of surprise and amazement that he actually missed it.

But look at what he stated and the conviction he had in his voice. Our minds don’t understand when we’re “just kidding” or we really don’t mean it. We say something or think something with any amount of belief, our minds take it as truth and then proceeds to act in a way to make truth our reality. Which in turn encourages our minds to create more “truths”- good or bad.

So, what are you telling yourself? “I can’t afford that.” “I will never get that (whatever it is you want).” And one that I hear often, “I guess I’m not meant to be rich.” Why then are you surprised that your reality is what it is?

How do you overcome your bad self-talk?

The best way to do it is by, first, making a list of all the things you really would like to be, do or have. Everything from the house you want to live in, the car you want to drive, the kind of relationships you want to have, how you want people to respond to you when you walk into a room, how you want to look, where you would like to vacation, etc. Don’t leave anything out. Try to write down at least 100 things. I dare you!

Second, write down on cards positive responses about the things on your list and post them around your house, in your car, keep them in your wallet or purse and read them whenever you are standing in line, etc. By positive responses, I mean, tell yourself that you CAN afford that, you WILL get that (whatever you want), and that you ARE meant to be rich. In the case of the boy above, “Man, I make every shot! Watch…I’ll make it again!”

At first you may doubt that this works and that it’s just a bunch of psycho-babble, PMA (positive mental attitude) junk. Just trust me. It WILL work. It DOES work. If you say you can, you’re right!
