Popcorn and the Pink Truck

By Monica Zollinger

“Let’s make popcorn!” Jeff said as we finished writing a research paper for his class. We got out the hot air popper and added some yellow kernels. We watched as the kernels started heating up and moving around. Soon one burst open and became a fluffy, white popped corn. Then more popped. We made sure the bowl was underneath so that when they started pushing their way out of the popper, they didn’t end up all over the floor. After they were all popped, we added some butter and salt and took the bowl into the living room to watch a movie.

The Law of Perpetual Transmutation states that everything is constantly moving into or out of form. The energy of the universe is always in a state of motion. It is always changing, never standing still. Think about the popcorn. It started out in the form of still kernels. An idea was planted and they began to be changed into popcorn, then buttered popcorn, then eaten popcorn. Perhaps an easier to understand example would be water. Water takes many forms on its way from being invisible to being solid—vapor, cloud, rain/water, ice. This process can reverse at any point along the way.

This law relates to the universe and our consciousness through energy that is constantly changing whether we can see it or not. We can harness this energy and transform it into whatever form we desire by choosing to focus our attention on a desired outcome or goal. We literally can shape this energy with our minds. Circumstances and things are perpetually coming or going according to our thoughts. An idea also takes many forms on its way from being non-existent to being part of our reality in our physical world—non-existent, idea, spiritual, physical. Belief and positive thoughts keep the “idea cloud” gathering until it can move into its physical form. The idea can also be reversed or lost at any point if we start to doubt.

Another name for this law might be The Law of Pure Potentiality. It is the True Self (Spirit, Mind, and Body) working together in the creation process to express itself. In other words, life is constantly changing and is never in the same state at any given moment. Law is the process by which the unmanifest becomes the manifest and True Success is the unfolding of the divinity within us. Success is a journey—not a destination. It is the progressive realization of worthy goals.

Think of the following stickman figure as our One True Self or one of pure potentiality.

When you discover your essential nature and know who you really are, in that knowing itself, is the ability to fulfill any dream you have. When you know yourself, and believe in who you are, it is through your thoughts that you can create anything and bring it from your thought into its physical form.
Here is why this law is so important. You can change energy. Your thoughts are energy. You have the power to change your thoughts. You change your thoughts – you change your energy. You change your energy, you will attract, based on the other laws of the universe, everything you want into your life because you are matching the energy.

Let me share an example. When I was first learning about this law, I was driving to Utah through a very drab and barren part of the country. I thought, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see some bright colors out there?” I thought maybe a rainbow, but I need bright colors and a rainbow didn’t seem quite right. I thought, “Let me see some blue and green or red and yellow cars.” The truck cabs started being red, green, yellow and blue. Then I saw a truck with all four bright colors. That was my rainbow! With gratitude and joy, I then wanted to see a pink truck. A pink car passed by. “This is fun!” I thought. “I really want to see a pink truck though.” A bright purple truck passed, then a light lavender truck. Then an orange truck. Then a small pink pickup and a small, pink bus. I was really enjoying the color parade, but I focused on what I really wanted to see—a bright, pink cab of a semi-truck. I kept seeing a rainbow of color from the cars on the road. It was no longer drab and barren. Lots of bright color was now all around me. My awareness was heightened. I continued to believe I would eventually see a pink truck.

I had reached my destination. Two days later, as I headed back home to California, I thought about how grateful I was to have seen “my rainbow of vehicles” on my way out. I thanked God for that experience and blessing and expressed my desire to still see a pink truck and how happy that would make me. I asked if He would grant that blessing to reinforce my faith in what I’ve been studying.

It wasn’t long before I saw a pink truck headed in the opposite direction. I smiled. It was a pink truck but not as bright as I’d imagined. I felt gratitude for that pink truck and knew that this law worked. I also knew that if I believed long enough, I would eventually see a bright pink truck exactly as I imagined, but I was happy and satisfied with what I had already received.

Whether it is popcorn, circumstances in our lives, a rainbow of colored vehicles, or our life story, energy is in constant motion and everything is continually moving in or out of form according to our thoughts. Life is the experiences and growth that we attract to ourselves through our thoughts.
