Meet Christapher Clark, Mindset Mastery Honors graduate. Christopher is a determined and resilient individual, who, through his journey in the Mindset Mastery course, learned to harness the power of focused intent and unwavering commitment to achieve goals that once seemed out of reach. His story is one of perseverance, faith, and the incredible progress that can be made when you believe in yourself and the principles guiding you.
Exploring Inconsequential Goals
Christapher’s approach to the Phase 1 experiment involved setting multiple inconsequential goals, ranging from defeating a challenging level in a game to beating GPS traffic predictions. He even set one to find a date who was his age and held the same values.
What’s important about the inconsequential goals is not what the goals are, but to help build confidence and reinforce the principles of effective goal-setting. Through repeated practice, these exercises enhance the ability to visualize, plan, and execute larger, more significant goals, fostering a disciplined mindset that can be applied to more meaningful pursuits.
A Challenging Phase 2 Goal
Christapher’s Phase 2 goal was an ambitious and deeply personal one: He aimed to improve his brain function after meeting with his Neurologist.
“My neurologist was concerned about the levels of high beta in my brain, and said I’d been in survival mode for a long time. Stated that my brain was running at the level of Alzheimer’s patients.”
Initially, Christapher’s Neurologist expected that it would take at least six months for him to regulate his brain waves, but Christapher set about to achieve that within four months. With intense effort and dedication, Christapher managed to achieve this goal. He stated:
“It was not easy. I had to do a lot of work on my end. She [Christapher’s doctor] would view my progress and make adjustments as needed. I worked hard and was ranked with others in the app they used, stating that I trained in the 98th percentile, as compared to the average user. I could feel the progress I was making, and at the 4-month mark I received a detailed progress report.
I had reached and sustained the correct levels from month 3 to the end of the 4th month, proving that I reached my goal in half the time the Dr stated and had maintained those levels throughout month 4.”
His success, validated by a detailed progress report, showcased his commitment and focused intent, both important pieces in goal achievement, because they keep you aligned with your objectives. Remaining aligned with your objectives assists you to overcome obstacles and stay motivated, even when challenges arise. When you’re committed, you’re less likely to be swayed by distractions or setbacks; and with focused intent, your actions become purposeful, driving you steadily toward your desired outcome. Together, they empower you to turn your goals into reality.
Confronting Fears and Terror Barriers
Facing fears, or “thinking truth in spite of appearances,” proved transformative for Christopher. He found that unemotional responses to fears, such as questioning worst-case scenarios, helped calm his subconscious mind.
He wrote,
“I liked how you could calm your subconscious by unemotionally answering questions about the fear. I used this a few days ago [when] I answered my fearful questions about if we don’t make it in time, saying out loud with no emotion that I would simply be charged and that the experience I had was worth the charge.”
The story he is referencing here, he had originally shared, in detail, with the other members of his Mindset Mastery group:
“Ok, so I want to share this experience I had earlier. I was leaving from the Meridian temple to go pick my kids up from daycare. I had lost track of time and would arrive according to the GPS a minute before 6, and at 6 I start getting charged by the minute. With 3 kids, I really wanted to avoid that.
So I set a goal and just started talking out loud to myself, tinging my words with confident, happy emotion. After all, I was already feeling great. Ever hear an affirmations podcast? Yeah, I sounded a bit like that.
‘I am thankful that I arrived at the parking lot at 5:53. I am thankful that I got my kids out and was out at 6:00. I am thankful for the smooth flow of traffic. I am grateful for the green lights.’
Over and over again. At one point, I was coming up to a red light at a really busy intersection between Chinden and Eagle road I think, lots and lots of traffic.
‘I am grateful that that light turned green before my vehicle stopped’
And it turned green before I stopped! But with the amount of traffic, I still had to stop for a minute. I kept repeating the main goal. GPS said I’d get there at 5:57 now. I then imagined bragging to my friend that I got in with 2 minutes to spare. I hit a lot of yellow lights and was able to pass through. I hit very few red lights, and traffic flowed in a way that allowed me to bypass slower vehicles and get ahead. I got to the parking lot and got in and to the kids with 2 minutes to spare, and was out right at 6pm.
I’ve never made an inconsequential goal to be carried out so quickly. It was really cool. I was afraid I wouldn’t make it, and my subconscious was nearly screaming cuz we wouldn’t make it.
I used the principles of answering the what-ifs with no emotion. I believe that this was a big moment in replacing my sub-programing from thinking and believing one way to believing that if I set a goal and do my part, anything can happen.
[I had a] moment with the terror barrier saying a goal can’t possibly work in that short amount of time. I chose to believe the principles taught in Mindset Mastery, and to do as I’d learned, despite my past beliefs.”
Experiences such as this are powerful reminders of the power of positive-thinking and belief when confronted with what appears to be impossible.
Advice for Overcoming Fear
When asked what he would tell someone else facing their fear, he responded,
“I would help them by coaching them in answering the ‘what-if’ questions the correct way, and tell them about my experience facing my fears in this manner, and how it helped.”
Reflecting on what he learned through the course, Christapher had this to say:
“I have become aware of some of the many laws, I have learned about each of these laws and how to use them to my advantage, so I don’t break myself against them. I have learned how to properly set a goal, and how to use the laws to bring it to fruition. I have learned what not to do in some instances, and how it all begins with a thought. This has helped me significantly in the past months, and will help me greatly throughout my life.”
Christapher’s stories are a testament to the transformative powers of aligning one’s efforts and faith. With persistence and the right mindset, overcoming fears and achieving goals are not only possible, but also deeply rewarding.
