The Things we Do to Fit In

Earlier this summer, Mohamed Tohami asked if he could interview me, and I have to say, this was one of my most favorite interviews ever. I had a great time; Mohamed is really good at what he does.

Now, I’ve begun to notice something about me… when I’m speaking with someone who has a really beautiful accent, I think I start talking differently, too. I don’t know, maybe subconsciously I’m trying to fit in, and be a little more proper or something.

So, you can listen to this interview if you like, and see if you can detect my adjustments. 🙂

To learn more about Tohami and why career success is not enough, read this article and find out why it is not enough to grow. Tohami will teach you how you can grow with PASSION and PURPOSE!

  1. Hi Raymond,

I’m sorry you had trouble hearing it… I wonder what happened there. I have not been able to duplicate the problem – I listened again and it sounded to me that the volume was the same for both of us, although my voice was “telephonized”… anyway, many apologies that it didn’t work out for you. Thanks for taking the time to let me know.

  2. Great interview, Leslie! I always thought that it was a good thing that we slightly modified our speech and mannerisms when talking to someone else — like we were bridging the gap of communication! I learned a long time ago that it was good to try to match the other person’s body language because it showed that you were fully engaged in the conversation and willing to meet them where they’re at. It would be interesting to hear Kirk’s take on this…

  3. Hi there Leslie,
I have tried to listen to this interview and all i can hear is Mohamed talking and a faint voice, which I presume is yours. So i can’t really make any comment right now, sorry
