Keeping Dreams Alive

By Angi Bair

Do you ever just sit and daydream? Do you think about all the things you want in your life? How do you want your life to look? What are all the things you want to do? Who are the people you want to spend time with? What are the things you want? As a child it is so easy to daydream. We envision marrying Prince Charming and living in a castle, or becoming a superstar, or having the best job doing exactly what we love to, or being the world’s best anything. As a child do you remember being so excited and happy for all the things your future would hold? As a child you had passion and emotion and hope and belief.

Then somewhere along the path we were told, you can’t do that. It will never happen. You’re not good enough, tall enough, smart enough, brave enough, you don’t have enough money…. you can’t do it. So we let our dreams go….sometimes all of them, and sometimes just a few. But the more we listen to those voices inside our head and the things in our outside environment, the more we tend to give up on day dreaming. In fact sometimes it gets hard to even imagine a different circumstance than the one we are living. Then we keep living the circumstance we are in, instead of hoping and dreaming for what we really want. We feel childish and unrealistic to imagine anything better for ourselves. To daydream becomes difficult because we don’t want to be let down or disappointed. The very act of letting go of our dreams and giving up passion for things we truly want, is exactly what keeps us from achieving our dreams and goals.

God created this beautiful and magnificent world, first in his mind, and then in physical form. Everything we want must be first created in our minds (our spiritual realm) before it can take form in the physical realm. Our thoughts and ideas are seeds of things we want to create. These are our daydreams, our passions. Once we have a thought or an idea, we can bring it into the physical realm if we hold onto it and nourish it with our feelings. We think of something we want. We get excited about it. We keep believing no matter what.

“Jesus said unto him,
If thou canst believe, all things are possible
to him that believeth.”
-Mark 9:23

The Law of Transmutation states that everything, every object, every circumstance is constantly developing into form or dissipating out of form. Think of the cycle of water. It starts as vapor, which can form clouds, then rain/water, and then ice. The form can reverse from ice back to water back to vapor. It can stop in any of the process along the way or reverse depending on the elements. If it gets cold the water turns to ice. If it gets hot it melts back to water. The outside elements determine the state of the water.

The same is true with our thoughts and dreams. In order for our dreams and thoughts to become a reality we have to hold on to them, and keep nourishing them until they become real in the physical world. Let’s say you have a goal of something you really want, but maybe you can’t afford it, or maybe you don’t know how you will ever be able to get it. If you hold on to that thought and dream long enough, the universe will work towards making it a reality.

Maybe someone will be giving away just the thing you are looking for. Maybe you will find it in a store on clearance. Or maybe it will be left on your doorstep. There are many unseen ways for you to achieve your dream.

If you decide to listen to your doubts that you won’t achieve you dream, then the process will reverse and your dream will start to dissipate just like ice turning back into water. There are countless stories of people who achieve incredible things and overcome incredible odds. They all have one thing in common. They never gave up on their dream. They knew what they wanted, and they kept the hope alive. They felt excitement about achieving the dream. They did it. And so can we. Anyone can achieve their dreams. God wants what we want. God wants us to be happy, enriched, and fulfilled.

Wallace Wattles in “The Science of Getting Rich” states, “There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.” This thinking stuff is what creates our physical world. Have you ever had a time where you thought of something and it showed up? This can be easy to do with simple ideas and becomes more complicated with things we believe are bigger and harder to achieve. The concept is the same. Think of what you want. Feel good about it. Hold on to the dream. Watch it appear in reality. It can be as simple as seeing the answer to a burning question you have show up on a billboard along the freeway. Or as magnificent as an amazing dream vacation to a place you have always wanted to go.

By law, everything is either coming or going out of form. Recognizing this law helps us keep our dreams alive and keep looking forward to achieving our goals. Our success lies in holding on throughout the process to allow our dreams to come into form. Even vapor can again turn in to water as the process moves forward. Keep moving forward. Remember what it was like as a child and create those exciting dreams that you are passionate about. Reach for the sky and the highest limits. Believe in yourself. Believe that good things happen. Believe that good things can happen to you.

I love this famous Disney Song, “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes”…..you wake in the morning to find fortune smiling on you.
