Why the Laws of Success "stop working"

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. And here’s one reason why:

If you've had a breakthrough but then found it harder and harder to recreate that success, you're not alone.

We're here on Earth to discover the path to true, lasting, and complete joy. That path leads us back to God — through a personal, two-way, living relationship with our Creator. We develop that relationship by learning and living His laws. The more we align with the universal laws that govern all things, the closer we draw to that fullness of joy.

It’s kind of like the game "hot and cold." One child hides something, and the other has to find it. As the seeker moves closer, the first child says, “warmer.” When they move away, it’s “colder.” And through that continual adjustment, they eventually find what they’re looking for.

In life, when we're headed in the right direction, our spirit feels that warmth — enlightenment, peace, clarity. That’s how we know we’re on the right track. But when we head the wrong way, the light seems to dim. We feel confusion, restlessness, or even darkness. That’s God’s way of saying, “colder.”

The key isn’t proximity to truth — it’s the direction we’re facing.

Even someone standing just inches from the goal but turned the wrong way will hear “colder,” while someone across the room who turns in the right direction will hear “warmer,” even with a longer road ahead.

That same principle applies to achieving goals.

When you begin experimenting with Rare Faith principles, the results are often quick and generous — not because we got everything right, but because God is merciful. Those early wins are a kind of spiritual encouragement: a loving “you’re getting warmer.”

And then — sometimes — the things that used to work stop working.

That doesn’t mean the principles failed. It means we're being invited to fine-tune our understanding. We're growing. We might need to adjust our language, improve our emotional stability, release control more fully, or deepen our willingness to act on quiet promptings.

Imagine a straight line running through the middle of your life — representing perfect alignment with God’s laws. If your thoughts and actions fall within a certain range of that line (the “dotted line” zone), you'll still feel progress, even if imperfect. But if you stop adjusting or growing, eventually you'll drift outside of that zone, and things will stop working — not because they don't work, but because you're being called to something higher.

We're not only accountable for what we know — we're responsible to grow in what we know.

Early success might happen in the "dark blue" area — still within range. But if we stay there too long, without progressing, the very same efforts can begin producing different results. Why? Because we’re expected to step up. The same behavior that once qualified for success no longer does, not because the rules changed, but because we are expected to evolve.

Even though the formula is exact, it’s forgiving at first. But as we grow, more is required.

"To whom much is given, much is required." (Luke 12:48)

When what used to work stops working, it’s not punishment — it’s an invitation. There's something more to learn, something deeper to discover, something greater to do. And until we adjust, we may grope around a bit — just like the child in the “hot/cold” game — until we realign and feel the warmth again.

Sometimes we feel “warmer” just by setting a goal that’s more worthy of our energy. Sometimes it’s recognizing and correcting something off in our lives. Sometimes it's finding peace in a hardship before the blessing reveals itself.

If we haven't yet reached perfect oneness with God, the journey isn’t over. And the “warmer” and “colder” promptings are meant to help us keep moving forward. There's always more to find — greater clarity, truer understanding, deeper connection with the Divine.

Rare Faith might start with wanting to “get something” — and that’s okay. That’s often how we begin. But its ultimate purpose is so much bigger: it's about drawing closer to God, discovering our life’s purpose, and developing the spiritual strength to fulfill it.

The journey will stir up every emotion on the spectrum — thrill, disappointment, frustration, joy — and all of it has value. It refines us. The more we learn to tune in to those hot and cold signals, the more often we’ll find ourselves living in the miracle zone.

The principles are true. They bring light and understanding to the soul. So if you feel joy while studying them — take that as a “warmer.”

But if life starts to feel off — don’t panic. It’s easy to drift and not realize it. If success is coming at the expense of your family, it’s time to re-anchor your values. If your spending is getting careless, it’s time to show more gratitude and mindfulness. If your goals are only about comfort, it might be time to aim higher — for the good of others, too.

Wherever you are, if you’re not continually refining your intentions, what once felt warm will eventually turn cold.

That’s why I hesitate to talk about the “Law of Attraction” without also addressing the broader, deeper principles of Rare Faith.

Here’s another way to visualize it:

Imagine a path that leads to a fullness of joy — a path that draws you ever closer to God. As long as you’re walking in the light, you feel His Spirit, receive enlightenment, and enjoy His guidance. You may not be exactly on the center line, but if you’re within the light’s reach, you’ll still feel the benefit.

But if you keep moving parallel without correcting course, you’ll eventually step out of that light. The warmth fades. So you must continually adjust, drawing closer to that center path, increasing your understanding and deepening your obedience.

The path gets narrower — not to limit us, but to guide us more precisely toward truth.

So if you’ve lost that joy or clarity, don’t be discouraged. It’s still there, and you can find it again. It might not be as far as it feels. Start simple. Realign. You may be in a dark place right now, but the light will find you the moment you turn the right way.

Sometimes the smallest course correction is all it takes to feel that warmth again.
