Too much Information?
Apr 30, 2018
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by too many options, too much information, and too many people telling you how to succeed?
You're not alone. Here’s an email I received, and my reply to it.

I don’t know if you’ll actually answer this, but I’m getting frustrated because I’m being INUNDATED with various “I have the secret YOU need to be successful in life” emails, offers, programs, and gimmes!
I certainly can’t do them all at once, and while they may all be worthwhile, it seems like there’s a lot of redundancy. I’m STILL trying to work my way through your materials, and I don’t know if I need to get something ELSE while I still haven’t finished what I HAVE!
...I feel like I’m spinning my wheels with “Lo here” and “Lo there”... like the poor guy trying to catch the rabbit the same way the fox/wolf/whatever did! Any words of wisdom you could share would be appreciated. Thanks! Linda
My response to Linda (with a few extra thoughts):
Breathe, Linda, breathe. :)
There’s a lot of noise out there, but trust that the RIGHT next step will reveal itself when you’re ready for it. Just because something is good doesn’t mean you have to jump on it right away. If it’s the right thing for you, it will still be there when you’re ready.
I don’t open all my soliciting emails either. I only open them if I’m actively looking for an answer to a burning question, and only if the email seems like it might have the solution to that particular question.
Looking at everything can cause information overload. Sometimes, I just have to prioritize and tell myself, “I don’t have the mental bandwidth for anything else right now,” and then I move forward—at peace, taking things at my own pace, knowing that I don’t have to rush faster than my mental, emotional, or physical strength can handle.
When the student is ready, the teacher appears. If too many teachers show up, take a moment to get clear on your overall objective. Once that’s in focus, the right options will become obvious—you’ll feel it in your gut. The wrong ones, in that moment, will lose their pull on you.
Don’t get overwhelmed by too much good information. Stay focused on your goal, and the right information will naturally show up when you’re ready for it.
