The Swell in Front of You
Oct 31, 2017
Staying in forward motion—even when things feel hopeless—does more to move you toward success than you might realize. (And if you're afraid you'll fall, then fall forward.)
I like to picture it this way: imagine standing still in a pool of water. The water may be slowly evaporating around you, and as long as you remain still, it just keeps shrinking. It’s like sitting around watching the economy crash. But take a single step forward, and you’ll notice a temporary swell appear right in front of you. Keep walking, and that surge keeps building. The water may still be dropping around you, but your own personal level rises—because you’re moving your feet.
The economy works the same way. Sure, there may be a global downturn, like the water level in the pool falling. But what happens everywhere else doesn’t have to define your experience—as long as you keep moving and create your own local momentum.
So if your finances feel flat, take a step. DO something. MOVE. If the water seems extra low, then lunge forward! Push ahead and watch the water rise in front of you. Physics guarantees it: motion creates a surge.
Move forward, and the resources ahead of you will begin to gather. The law of cause and effect kicks in. Doors open. Teachers show up. Funds appear. Help comes.
Just don’t take a step and get distracted by the ripples flowing away in every direction. Don’t fixate on whether they’ll ever come back. Keep your eyes on the swell you're creating right now—because that's where your power is.
So how do you create a swell?
-
Serve someone without expecting anything back, and it creates a swell in that relationship.
-
Read something empowering, and it elevates your mindset.
-
Make the phone call you're afraid to make, and your courage builds.
-
Write your intention down with bold determination, and your faith expands.
-
Invest in yourself, and your confidence surges—reminding you that things can and will work out.
Let me remind you: by the seven laws, what shows up in your life is directly tied to how you feel about your challenges. And forward motion—no matter how small—helps you feel better. That shift in feeling? It’s often the very catalyst that invites unseen help to assist you in doing things that once felt impossible.
Every wise choice, every step forward, creates a swell. So your job? Keep that swell alive. Keep your levels high by continuing to move. If you stop, the swell fades, and the world around you falls flat again.
It’s tempting to stand still and wait for someone else to come along and stir the water—but the power to create momentum is already within you.
So get moving. Do something. Even if you're exhausted, just take one more step.
Because if you keep going, momentum builds. A tailwind catches you. And before long, it’s not just you pushing through anymore—the swell leads the way.
