My easy-to-accomplish goal didn’t go as planned. In fact, what started as straightforward and doable suddenly looked… impossible.

Can you relate?

After finding the perfect breed of cats that served as emotional support animals for my children, someone asked if I’d be interested in breeding a litter.

With so few of the breed available in the U.S., it felt like a way to serve others—and it aligned perfectly with my deep love for animals. I had a breeder willing to mentor me, a passion for this work, and a desire to share the same benefits I’d seen in my own family.

I had it all laid out in my mind. A perfect course.

But when our kitten turned a year old, the breeder I was working with didn’t have a male (stud) that wasn’t related to her.

I tried everything. I contacted breeder after breeder—but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t find anyone willing to work with me.

Each one turned me down for one reason or another.

Finally, I found a breeder willing to let me use his stud—but my girl didn’t get pregnant, and he didn’t seem interested in giving it another try.

At that point, I was close to giving up on the whole dream.

And then, by chance, I stumbled across Hazel—a breeder who lived several hours away and was open to working with me.

I was so excited!

I drove my female cat, Coco, to Hazel’s home and spent a few hours connecting and learning from her. Coco stayed behind, waiting for her next heat cycle.

But while Coco was there, everything changed again. Hazel was diagnosed with COPD and told she couldn’t keep cats in her home if she wanted to recover. She offered to sell me much of her equipment—and her breeding program.

And she had a very pregnant female cat.

One week later, that cat delivered seven kittens… right in my home.

WOW.

The dream that had almost faded away came rushing back—stronger and fuller than I ever imagined. Practically overnight, I went from struggling to start to becoming a mid-level breeder.

Now, seven-plus years later, it feels like that frustrating wait was just a tiny blip in time. What once felt like a dead-end is now a distant memory.

The Law of Gestation teaches us that every idea needs time to grow—like a seed.

We’re meant to plant the seed of our dreams with full expectation that it will sprout—and then stop digging it up to see if it’s working! Some seeds take longer to show results, but that doesn’t mean they’re not growing beneath the surface, just about to peek through.

Too often, I see people pull their seeds up by the roots just when they’re about to bloom.

So how do we stop ourselves from giving up too soon?

Turn to your Higher Power and ask for help. Ask for that spark of genius to guide you in the right direction.

Give thanks for the help that is already on its way.

Then, go to work—following even the smallest nudges, even if they seem unrelated at first.

Make sure your energy matches your dream. Take time to imagine and feel what it will be like to have what you want, as though it’s already yours (see the post on the Law of Vibration).

Be like an expectant mother. If a baby doesn’t come on its due date, she doesn’t assume it’s not coming—she continues to prepare and anticipate.

What could you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? Would you meet your roadblocks with more grit and persistence?

Believing you can’t fail changes the way you move. It opens you up to new solutions you hadn’t even considered.

Just like my breeding program came together in its own timing and in its own unique way, your dreams will, too.

Sure, I could have gotten one litter earlier—and then ended up stuck again with no options. But instead, God had me wait until I found the solution that launched one of my greatest passions and missions.

Trust Him—and He can do the same for you.
