Adversity before Prosperity
Jan 16, 2019
When a person sets a goal using the principles in The Jackrabbit Factor (or the laws of thought described in Hidden Treasures: Heaven's Astonishing Help with Your Money Matters), sometimes it feels like life gets harder first. Has that ever happened to you? If so, you're not alone.
I can't count how many times I've set goals using these principles, and everything seemed to fall apart before it got better. In fact, after more than 18 years of studying these principles, I’ve learned that this phenomenon is not only normal, but often necessary.
To help explain why, let me borrow an analogy from Price Pritchett's book, You2 ("You Squared"):
Major undertakings often get messy in the middle.
If you have an internal injury or ailment that requires surgery, the first thing doctors have to do is cut you open. If you were to take a snapshot of yourself lying on the operating table, unconscious, with an incision in your body, it might look like something terrible has happened.
Are you well yet? No. Are you worse off than before? Well, that's debatable. It certainly looks like things have gotten worse.
But in reality, you know that’s not the case. Even though things appear chaotic on the surface, the situation is under control, and you are on track toward recovery.
Changing your life is no different. It’s like undergoing major surgery. At any given moment during the process, it may seem like things are getting worse, but the success you're working toward requires determination and faith in the end result. Understanding that the messiness in the middle is part of the process will help you realize that you're likely right on track.
You haven’t gone backward; you're probably moving forward, even when it feels like you're not.
It’s easy to be positive when things are going well. But when things seem bad, you have a golden opportunity to hold onto truth despite appearances. When you do that, you trigger an immediate response of unseen help, continued support, aligned resources, and the orchestration of solutions preparing the way for you.
The challenge is an opportunity that most people overlook, resist, or fight. But now you know: it’s actually a gift. When you choose to see it with excitement for the hidden benefits it contains, your world will shift rapidly. Test it out and prove me wrong!
Life has a way of presenting opportunities disguised as challenges. If you refuse to invest emotional energy into setbacks (yes, deal with them, but unemotionally), and instead keep your enthusiasm and expectancy high for the good hidden within them (no matter how long it takes to uncover), you’ll pass the test and earn the reward.
I can guarantee that all those people you admire, who enjoy true success, have faced similar trials. You see their success, but rarely do you hear about the internal struggles they overcame.
This process is predictable and unchanging. Most people begin this journey, face challenges, and then conclude that the "law of attraction" is a hoax. However, those who experience breakthroughs will later attest to the validity of this process.
So when you face opposition, recognize it for what it is: a sign that you’re on your way to something amazing. Say it out loud: “This is GREAT!” and keep moving forward.
Remember: the adversity is the opportunity. The reward is a direct result of facing adversity with mental toughness and perseverance. Mental toughness without adversity has no meaning. Without adversity, the formula is incomplete, and success cannot be achieved.
So start calling the adversity in your life good instead of bad, and watch as the solutions you need begin to reveal themselves. Resources will open up. Unseen help will come to your aid.
I thank my Father in Heaven for teaching me this. I feel like I’m finally beginning to understand why there is truly no need to fear. Everything we need is at His command, and when we choose to believe, choose to have faith in Him, and choose to let go of our attachment to fear, drama, and worry, we realize that there was never anything to fear in the first place. Lack is just an illusion.
It’s not a matter of whether resources and help are available—it’s about whether we have the courage to put these principles to the test.
I dare you—try it for a week and let me know what happens!
