A Washington Nickel

One of my favorite illustrations of the Law of Vibration is how an acorn grows. Once it’s planted, the acorn naturally begins to draw to itself all the minerals, nutrients, and resources it needs to become a mighty oak tree. It doesn’t pull in anything unnecessary or irrelevant—only what supports its growth and purpose. That’s the power of vibration: attracting exactly what aligns with your desired outcome.
I’ve caught myself more times than I’d like to admit thinking about things I don’t want—temptations I hang onto too long, negative feelings toward people, or worries and fears that drain my energy. But as I practice and become more aware, I’m getting better at catching those thoughts and turning them around. One thing that really helps me is remembering Richard’s moment in The Jackrabbit Factor—you know, the part where he visualizes pulling out Randy Mollup’s nose hair in vivid detail? That story never fails to interrupt my negative spirals.
During Mindset Mastery, when I was working on my inconsequential goal, I cycled through a few different ideas and honestly struggled with all of them. I wasn’t convinced that my visualizations were hitting the right vibrational frequency or drawing what I wanted to me. Finally, I chose one last idea and decided to go all in with as much detail, energy, and gratitude as I could muster.
I imagined a shiny silver nickel lying on the ground in my path. In my mind, I bent down, picked it up, and saw George Washington’s face on the front. I felt the cold metal between my fingers and let the feeling of success and gratitude wash over me. That morning, I went on a 3-mile walk, praying nearly the entire time—praying about my weaknesses with the exercises, about finding that shiny silver nickel, and about the gratitude I already felt for everything, including what I was about to experience.
As I neared home, something shiny and silver caught my eye on the ground, about the size of a nickel. I felt this surge of excitement and gratitude as I reached down to pick it up. But it wasn’t a nickel—it was a small charm with two elephant caricatures, five hearts on one side, and the word lucky in cursive on the other.
I literally laughed out loud and said, “Are you kidding me?!” At first, I thought maybe the adversary had thrown a curveball—after all, I don’t believe there’s any luck in this process. But then the lesson hit me.
The unseen help I had been relying on had come through—as close as it possibly could. The only problem? I’d visualized the wrong President. (Turns out, it’s Thomas Jefferson on a nickel, not George Washington!) I was both embarrassed and overwhelmed with gratitude.
Later that day, I even found meaning in the word “lucky.” In Mindset Mastery, we’re taught that LUCK actually stands for Living Under Correct Knowledge. What I originally saw as a disappointment ended up being one of my most treasured learning experiences in vibration and co-creation.
