Cloudy with a Chance of $20

I’m pleased to present Cari Skrdla as a new Mindset Mastery Honors Graduate!

In the Mindset Mastery program, students are instructed on the laws and principles that activate unseen help. That unseen help orchestrates resources, connections, and/or impressions that nudge the students toward all they need to realize their goal. In Phase 1, they practice what they’ve learned on an inconsequential goal – something NOT connected to anything they’re intensely concerned about. This helps them experience success without undue stress, to build the mental muscle memory they need to apply what they learn, and to succeed with a goal of greater significance in Phase 2.

From the beginning, Cari did an amazing job at expecting the extraordinary. She wanted to make some major changes in her life and we stood back in awe as she applied the laws of thought to transform her faith, relationship, and career. I am delighted to share some of what she experienced during her journey through the Mindset Mastery Course.

Cloudy with a Chance of $20

For Cari’s inconsequential goal, she really did expect the extraordinary.

Normally, I don’t encourage money goals for the Phase 1 experiment, because most people come into the program with intense concerns about money (after all, it’s why they’re taking the course). But Cari didn’t have that concern and joined the program for other kinds of goals, so this $20 intention qualified for her Phase 1 experiment. In her words….

My inconsequential goal was to see money fall from the sky.

I was taught to work for what you receive. That’s one reason why I thought this was the perfect inconsequential goal. I remember thinking, this would require a miracle.

I set the goal and forgot about it. The day the goal was met, I was asked by my daughter to take her to school so she wouldn’t be late. When I returned home, the light was on indicating my hatch was open. This was strange to me because it was not on previously and I had not gotten out of my car or opened the hatch prior to my return. I got out of my car to close the hatch before going into my garage. I opened the hatch and then slammed it shut. It was that moment that my peripheral left saw money floating to the ground. It was a brand new $20 bill.

I looked everywhere for where it could have come from. To this day I still have no idea. I tried placing the bill on the bumper and slamming the hatch shut again, just to see if it could have fallen out of of my purse, swooshing up when the hatch shut, but no matter what I tried, I couldn’t recreate the bill falling from that high above my head.

I just smiled and counted it as “goal achieved”.

When she set this goal, Cari ranked it a 10 (on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the hardest) for difficulty. After the program, she ranked it a 5. Cari says,

Since doing this work, I have created a lot of things in my life that have helped me build the muscle and confidence to exercise rare faith.

Yes! We loved seeing Cari’s faith muscles strengthened and the amazing results that followed.

For her phase-two goal, Cari followed her intuition to get a new job. Here she describes how scary and difficult this transition was in the beginning, and the amazing results she experienced after applying faith, hard work, and laws of thought.

Stepping up to a New Job

My Phase 2 goal was to become a full-time employee at ThoughtsAlive working for and supporting Leslie and Trevan Householder.

My fear was saying goodbye to Landmark Worldwide as a participating program leader. I have been a program leader for close to 7 years and transformed myself and others through the program offerings. Facing this fear was appropriately tied to the terror barrier I had around my desire to become a Genius Bootcamp Facilitator (GBC). Every day I wondered, “Will I be okay leaving a community that was there when I had no one?”

I chose to face my fear in writing and without emotion. Even the worst-case scenario lost its hold when I just wrote what my fears were. The fear of losing touch and the fear of losing what I had gained. It’s just not possible.

The outcome was my resignation as a program leader. I kept my agreement to give notice six months before completion. I honored the Holy Spirit and did not try to move forward with GBC without completing my relationship with Landmark. I am not afraid.

In January 2017 I created my Phase II goal, working full-time for the Householders. On July 17, 2018, I resigned my administrative position at Argosy University to work full-time at Thoughts Alive. This was no easy process; I was not unhappy at my job and I was doing quite well in my performance. It took the promptings of the Spirit and the support and agreement of my husband to move forward when the call came. I remember the shock on the face of my Direct, President Jensen, when I told him I was resigning…. Within the hour I submitted a formal resignation. That same hour Leslie Householder sent me a text that she missed me. I responded by saying I had just quit my job to come and work for her. She said, “I have no idea what that looks like…” but together, we figured it out. What a blessed day.

Personally, I love this story. I had been feeling for some time how much I needed an assistant who knew what I needed even better than I did, and Cari fit the bill. She brings to our company a wealth of knowledge, wisdom and expertise beyond my comprehension. Every day I discover something new about why God brought her to us. As you can tell, we are thrilled to have Cari on our team! She has already been a huge light to so many participants in our programs.

One of my favorite stories EVER is the one she shares as a partner in my podcast, “Principles of Personal Freedom” where she describes the day she got arrested. Don’t miss that episode!!! You’ll quickly discover why I love her so much.

In addition to having the courage to leave her job for a new one, Cari was able to improve her marriage. She tells the story here:

Marriage Breakthrough

During this course, I broke through the terror barrier of sharing myself, my ideas, and my space with my husband. Having been previously married to someone that I dared not share with unless I wanted to face alienation and criticism, I learned not to be open. Openness is very important to my husband and I broke through that.

Wow Cari, thank you for sharing what is possible when the laws are applied to all areas of life, even relationships.

Cari sums up her experience in the Mindset Mastery program with this final advice:

Focus on the object of your faith. What you are believing is just as real as your current circumstances and your faith will cause the new reality to overtake the current one. Stay strong and celebrate like it’s already done.

Again, congratulations, Cari! You’ve done an amazing job!

When you don’t feel smart enough

I’m pleased to present Rosa Long as a new Mindset Mastery Honors Graduate!

This helps them experience success without undue stress, to build the mental muscle memory they need to apply what they learn to a goal of greater significance in Phase 2.

Rosa did an amazing job at increasing her skills as a master visualizer. Her hard work paid off in so many different ways. Here Rosa shares one of the best ways it paid off, going from deep fear to courageously living her dreams:

Not Feeling Smart Enough

I was afraid, but mostly, I was so insecure in my abilities from years of feeling inadequate and feeling not smart enough. Part of that is from me worrying too much what others thought of me and from many past failures in other businesses.

I am no longer afraid. In fact, I am amazed at how unafraid I am of the future and doing something that was previously way outside my comfort zone.

Rosa, I believe you will give hope to so many people who live in fear and insecurity. There is a way out of our anxious and insecure thoughts and your example of living the laws helps light the way!

Rosa started the program with a fun and simple goal:

Expecting Good Things is the New Norm

My inconsequential goal was to find amazingly close and convenient parking spaces…. Now it happens all the time without me even thinking about it because I am simply expecting to find them.

Great job Rosa. As it is with so many, small successes like these help Mindset Mastery students have courage to move on to bigger goals that may have previously seemed impossible.

For her phase two goal, Rosa faced her fears head on, and went from having a fear of public speaking, to promoting herself in a professional setting. She shares her story here:

Public Speaking Transformation

My bite sized Phase 2 goal was to promote my mock Genius Bootcamp (GBC) class for my GBC Facilitator certification.

I set a goal to promote my Genius Bootcamp at one of my networking meetings. I actually continued to promote it at other events as well and shared it with people I met at these women’s networking meetings.

I ranked this goal a nine [ten being hardest and one being easiest] because I am not used to promoting myself or my programs. It is new to me and I struggle with the mental part that what I desire is seeking me.

My fear of being a public speaker was so strong that I kept that desire hidden deep down inside my subconscious. It did its job in protecting me by keeping me out of the limelight throughout my life/career.

I chose to visualize myself speaking in front of a large audience. I envisioned their positive energy and love flowing towards me giving me the feeling of being supported in my role as a respected and inspiring speaker. The fear started to dissipate from my heart and [the vision] has now become more real than just a dream. Having strong faith that the Lord has guided me on this journey in finding my passion has helped greatly in pushing out the doubt and fears. [I wrote…]

“I am so grateful and ecstatic that I knocked it out of the park, when I promoted my Genius Bootcamp at my networking event! It’s so rewarding to see and feel the energy of excitement at what they anticipate learning when they attend May 9th. The attendees were definitely the ones that needed to be at my event and they were excited with anticipation.”

What is even more amazing outside of my bite-size goal was that I had written on my vision board this statement: “I facilitate the most extraordinary experiences in my Genius Bootcamps.”

Facilitator in Training

Rosa went on to facilitate her first Genius Bootcamp, and the results reflected her goal statement. She said:

The experience by all participants was “extraordinary.” Descriptions from the feedback forms I received called it “inspiring” and “amazing”. Lives have changed and this is why I knew I wanted to become a facilitator…. I am definitely improving in my conviction of what I have to offer those who are seeking what I have. I am realizing that I only want those who are seeking because those are the ones I will have so much fun teaching.

One of the women entrepreneurs I met asked if I would be willing to share what I am teaching to her clients. She asked if I offered mentoring because her company only teaches their clients (which are all entrepreneurs) how to build their businesses. She saw that they were missing the mindset part of it. What a great population to work with! They definitely need this class and to be mentored in how to fully utilize the teachings as they are building their businesses.

Here, Rosa’s making things happen with the power of her thoughts. And if her thoughts really are so powerful, why not use them to win a free cruise? 😉

Visualizing her way to a Caribbean Cruise

As I thought about what I wanted to do for my mid-term assignment, I thought of a goal for my health coaching business. I wrote down on December 9th how grateful I was for all the clients that eagerly reach out to me to get healthy. It just wasn’t happening and I didn’t do anything about it until it was the last 4 days of December. I realized that my true goal was not new clients but to qualify for an all-expense-paid Caribbean cruise that me and Brian could go on in March 2019. Then I remembered how Leslie taught we need to visualize the end goal not the tasks needed to achieve the goal (plus you can’t impose on other people’s wills).

“March 17, 2019, I am so grateful that Brian and I are enjoying this Caribbean cruise.” I then visualized and felt gratitude and the calmness and stress-free feeling as I saw us walking hand in hand on the ship.

I QUALIFIED AT 12:30 PM DECEMBER 31, 2018.

As she finished the Mindset Mastery course, I could feel Rosa’s optimism in this final comment:

I have such great hopes for 2019 as I continue to practice these success principles!

Again, congratulations, Rosa! You’ve done an amazing job and have a lot to show for it!

#60: Rising Above Financial Stress

You are here on this planet for a reason. But all too often, financial stress can get in the way of your ability to live a joyful, fulfilling life. Have you ever thought, “I will be happy when…” or, “If only I didn’t have to worry so much about money…”? The fact is, the money problem is nothing more than a distraction of the worst kind because our longing for it deceives us into believing that the only way to get past it, is to focus on it.

The good news is, the real solution is probably easier than you think, and more within reach than you realize.

The Power of Visualization

I’m pleased to present Cheryll Turner as a new Mindset Mastery Honors Graduate! Cheryll was so committed to internalizing the Laws of Thought, she went through our program twice. The first time was in the regular Mindset Mastery course and the second was in our Guided course. Watching her apply the Laws with determination and humility was inspiring.

Customer Service Stunner

Cheryll introduced herself in our private Facebook group with this story of how she went from hearing a “NO” to getting expedited shipping and free product:

I have been working on a digital photo album this year for my two-year-old granddaughter. I had intended to finish it in time to give it to her for Christmas. I finished the book around Thanksgiving and was set to put my order in but there was a problem that prevented me from completing the order.

I did all I could think to do to figure it out on my own and then contacted customer support twice with no luck. I even asked the second representative if I could just give him my payment information and have him put the order in for me. He told me he couldn’t do that.

December came…and I became very frustrated about the whole thing.

I came to Module 7 on Friday where we were asked to consider a situation that concerned us, stating only the facts and the worst and best outcomes for the situation. This was easy for me since this photo book had been on my mind for weeks!

I went through the process in my mind, completed the module, and proceeded to move on to Module 8. But something kept nagging me to take action! I decided that if I was going to teach these principles, I needed to live them and have some success.

I made a third call to customer service and remained very calm and respectful. The rep was very nice, extremely helpful, and decided after only five minutes that since we couldn’t figure it out, she would put the order through for me after taking my payment information…. She applied the discount code; I qualified for free shipping and got a second book for free because of the hassle! She then upgraded me to expedited shipping at no extra cost and said it would arrive by January 2nd. It arrived just minutes ago!

Do I think that any of this was a coincidence? Do I think that it’s a coincidence that it arrived on the day I am working on Module 12-The Law of Perpetual Transmutation? Believing is seeing….

Thanks for sharing that, Cheryll.

Did you notice that it was during the last phone call, in which Cheryll approached the situation with calmness and respect, that the customer service representative made a choice to help her? I can’t help but assume that the customer service representative felt her goodness, and reached out to match it with expedited shipping and an extra free book. Cheryll’s thoughts are alive and powerful indeed!

The Missing Cake Pan and a Preemie Home in Time for Christmas

In the Mindset Mastery program, students are instructed on the laws and principles that activate unseen help. That unseen help orchestrates resources, connections, and/or impressions that nudge the students toward all they need to realize their goal. In Phase 1, they practice what they’ve learned on an inconsequential goal – something NOT connected to anything they’re intensely concerned about. This helps them experience success without undue stress, to build the mental muscle memory they need to apply what they learn to a goal of greater significance in Phase 2.

Cheryl’s Phase 1 inconsequential goal began with a missing cake pan, but turned into something much more meaningful. Here is the story in her own words:

My son’s birthday is on Thursday and there is a special cake I made each year that was his favorite. Since he’s married this year, his wife said that she would continue the tradition and make the cake for him. The cake requires a bundt pan but I couldn’t find mine and she doesn’t have one. I determined that I must have given the pan away after he left home so the only solution was to purchase another one. There are two thrift stores in town and I figured surely, I would find one at one of them without having to go purchase a new pan.

I have great success with accomplishing small goals almost on a daily basis so I figured I would find a bundt pan at one of the thrift stores this way. After picturing the pan and feeling it in my hands, I used every sense I could to see it in my mind. Then I went to town (literally). The first thrift store had a bundt pan but not the one I had envisioned…. With no luck at either store, I drove out to my sister’s house and got her pan. It didn’t feel right because it wasn’t like I had visualized. Hers was a different color, much heavier, and didn’t feel the same in my hands as the one in my mind. I figured I had found a bundt pan even if it wasn’t like I had visualized or in the way I thought I would.

I took the pan to my daughter-in-law today and she was very grateful. I told her my story and knew she would appreciate it because she and I had both visualized my preemie grand baby (her son) being home for Christmas, which was two weeks before his actual due date, and it happened! She’s a believer. When I got home this evening, I needed to find something in one of the cupboards just outside of my kitchen. When I removed what I was looking for, there in the back corner of the cupboard was the bundt pan I thought I had given away and had gone to two thrift stores to find…

Just like I had imagined it.

I love how Cheryll’s powerful, focused thought led her to exactly what she wanted.

Finding Money for an Expensive Training

For Phase 2 of the program, Cheryll stepped up to a much harder goal. Here she tells the story in her own words:

My true desire has been to go through the steps to become a facilitator and I was setting goals to rank advance in my business to pay for the costs associated with becoming a facilitator…. In order to facilitate, you have to complete the Mindset Mastery Course and graduate with honors as one of the steps. With that in mind, I decided to set my Phase 2 end goal to have the money to enroll in the Guided Mindset Mastery Course…. My goal was to have the money and enroll by the 15th, which is in two days.

As part of my first drafted goal, I decided that I wanted the funds to come from somewhere other than my monthly budget. It occurred to me one day as I read my goal statement that perhaps I needed to tweak it enough that the money wasn’t part of it and that I would say my goal to reflect my desire to be in the course no matter where the money came from. I felt good about that and when the money did come, it was part of my budget that could easily be used in other places but could be used to enroll in the Guided Mindset Mastery if I needed it to be.

Because I was unsure about whether or not I was reaching my goal, I sent an email to Leslie explaining the situation and asking for her input. I received an email letting me know that she was out of town until Friday so I figured I would just have to pray about it and go through the steps she teaches. I could either use the money that was budgeted for something else or I could wait for the money to come from some unknown source. Either way, I was determined to be enrolled in the course and reach my goal.

Later…I received a phone call from Cari, Leslie’s assistant. I was so pleasantly surprised! After discussing my dilemma for a couple of minutes, she said she felt like I had reached my goal because I had the money and I was ready to enroll in the Guided Mindset Mastery Course but then she surprised me again when she said she didn’t think I needed to. She said that to become a facilitator, you do need to go through the Mindset Mastery Course, but since I was already taking the online course, I shouldn’t need to take the Guided course unless I really wanted to. I wasn’t sure what to think. Could I have possibly reached my goal without actually enrolling in the Guided course?

The wonderful news is that Cheryll decided to go ahead and take the Guided course, even though it was not required. I was beyond thrilled to have her in our course again – her contribution to her fellow students has been valuable. She finished the course with these beautiful thanks:

“[This] course has been such an amazing experience for me and I’ve had to overcome some mental and emotional blocks along the way that have been with me for years. I’m excited to move to the next step in the process of becoming a facilitator!”

A Friend and Money Dilemmas

Cheryll moved right into the Guided Mindset Mastery Course shortly after finishing the regular version. She demonstrated during her Phase 2 goal the power of visualization. Following is the story in her own words:

My phase two goal was to attend Kirk Duncan’s Present Yourself workshop in June 2019.

I was gifted the tickets from a friend of Stephanie Lyons just before Christmas 2018…. This was a miracle in itself, for me!…

Right away I started putting things in order, beginning with my mind and my focus to find someone to take the other ticket…. I wanted to go with someone who was as thrilled about it as I was and who would help keep the energy high as we attended together. I found a friend who was excited to go and we started dreaming and making plans to attend.

I began saving money for food, gas, and a hotel, which was no small matter for me. I continued to visualize and to feel the excitement of attending and the great experience I wanted to have. Two weeks before the workshop, my friend said she wasn’t going to be able to attend…. That news set me back a bit but I continued to believe that I would go and have an amazing time!

I mentioned it to my sister-in-law (who had declined when I asked her the first time) and she hadn’t remembered me asking her. She had been recovering from a work-related injury when I asked her the first time and was on pain medication as well as worrying about what would happen to her financially because of being out of work.

By the time I asked her again, she’d had some time to recover, was not taking pain medication, and was thrilled that I asked her to go! I would have to drive to Nevada to pick her up but I knew that was the experience I had visualized, so I agreed to do it.

Looking back, it seems so effortless almost because of the way it worked out, but it was anything but effortless! The night we got to the hotel it was chilly and raining and I could feel myself getting a head cold. That’s when it occurred to me that I hadn’t completed my goal just because I’d come that far. I began my affirmation as I visualized myself sitting at the workshop listening to Kirk Duncan. The next three days were an overload of information, excitement and amazingness!

Cheryll, thank you for bringing us along your journey of faith and courage. You are truly an inspiration. Finally, thank you for this message you left for our whole Mindset Mastery Facebook group:

How grateful I am for this course and all of you here and for the growth I’ve experienced by being a part of this! Your shares and encouragement of me and others has made a tremendous difference in my life.

Again, congratulations, Cheryll! You’ve done an amazing job!
